Teams make splash at Nationals in Montreal.

The past long weekend in Montreal at the Claude Robillard Sports Complex the Mississauga headed up by their coaches Eric Shaule and Nicolette Goncalves sent a record number of 20 members to the Canadian Masters Swimming Championships.

Rookie members Lisa Chadwick, Jen Bristol, Lois Carden and Daniel Ferreira had outstanding performances and personal bests in all events.

Special Acknowledgements’ go out to the top 10 performances and they are as follows:

Lisa Alexander 8^th place in the 800 free with a time of 11:56.23

Marney Elsey with 2 top 10 finishes, 8^th place in the 800 free with a time of 15:07.41 and 7^th place in the 50 free with a time of 40.06.

Alison Bowie with 4 top 10 finishes with a 7^th in the 50 back with a time of 39.56, 8^th in the 200 back with a time of 3:07.37, 8^th in the 100 back with a time of 1:23.54 and an 8^th in the 50 free with a time of 34.21.

Darlene Brown finished with two top 10 finishes with a 9^th in the 200 IM with a time of 4:02.86 and 9^th in the 400 IM with a time of 8:30.66.

Belinda Elysee-Collen placed 8^th in the 200 fly with a time of 3:54.61.

Nina Cameron had 2 top 10 performances with a 6^th in the 50 fly with a time of 34.73 50 and an 8^th in the 100 IM with a time of 1:18.59.

Joanna Wisner had 2 top 10 performances with a 6^th in the 100 breast with a time of 1:24.43 and another 6^th in the 50 breast with a time of 38.21.

Lisa Chadwick leading the females with an outstanding 5 top 10 performances, staring with a 4^th in the 50 back with a time of 35.07, 3^rd in the 400 free with a time of 5:11.02, 2^nd in the 200 back with a time of 2:41.06, 2^nd in the 100 back with a time of 1:14.48 and a 9^th in the 100 IM with a time of 1:20.10.

For the men Jason Hughes received a top 10 performance with a 7^th in the 800 free with a time of 11:15.41.

Greg Proctor had a top 10 performance with an 8^th in the 50 back with a time of 38.58.

Derek Sparrow had 2 top 10 performances with a 9^th in the 50 breast with a time of 48.28 and a 10^th in the 50 free with a 38.16.

Leading the men’s team was Richard MacArthur with 4 to 10 performances starting with a 7^th in the 50 fly with a time of 29.46, 4^th in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.69, 2^nd in the 100 IM with a time of 1:03.84 and finishing the meet winning the 50 free in a time of 26.00.

John Hague and Doug Elsey – representing our blistering LANE ONE – were solid performers in nailing down a 9^th place in the 4x50 Mens Relay. If it wasn’t for their speed and advanced age, the team wouldn’t have stood a chance. Team members John Stibrany and Greg Proctor couldn’t believe their luck at drawing such stalwart team mates. Lane One will never be the same.
